In this training, we will be exploring the Stage 2 Change Events (Withdrawer Reengagement & Pursuer Softening) and work on the essential skills needed to help your couples re-structure their bonds. Through teaching, videos, and exercises, Marlene and Kyriaki will help you learn how to heighten each partners’ emotions, when to incorporate “parts” work including View of Self and View of Other, and how to help each partner complete the risk, reach, and respond that is vital to successfully shifting their interactional pattern. Since completing both change events can be a challenge, self-of-the-therapist issues will also be explored.
This training, based on eight Task Analysis studies of the two Stage 2 Change Events of EFT, is aimed at the advanced EFT clinician since it extends the theory and practice of EFT.
By combining the research on the practice of these Stage 2 Change Events with actual clinical cases, this training provides a deep dive into Stage 2 of EFT.
Goals
• Explain how to work through Steps 5, 6, & 7 with both Withdrawers and Pursuers.
• Describe the Tango Moves that integrate into the Steps
• Describe and practice the macro and micro-interventions required for successful completion of both change events.
• Learn the qualities of sufficient depth of emotional experiencing required for each change event.
• Learn how self-of-therapist issues can arise in Stage 2 work and how to manage them
• Identify how cultural differences impact the client and therapist’s ways of exploring, expressing, and processing emotional experience
