Hold Me Tight®
A Couples Relationship Enhancement Programme
EFCT
couples
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) is a structured, evidence-based approach grounded in the Attachment Theory. It aims to restore and strengthen a couple’s emotional connection by identifying and transforming the negative interaction patterns that keep them trapped in distance and conflict. Its methodology combines a humanistic–experiential deepening of emotional experience with a systemic perspective on relational dynamics.
EFCT equips therapists with a clear road map — distinct stages and targeted interventions — for working with partners’ underlying emotions, freeing the couple from their negative cycle, and facilitating conversations that build safety, closeness and trust. Couples learn not simply to manage conflict but to create a secure emotional bond, with lasting results across a wide range of difficulties, from anxiety and depression to attachment injuries and breaches of trust.
EFΙT
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is an innovative therapeutic model that facilitates emotional processing and the development of secure relationships with oneself and with others. Derived from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, EFIT adapts the same principles to individual work, offering a structured approach to a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma and relational problems.
EFIT’s distinctive approach equips mental health professionals to help their clients transform limiting emotional patterns, cultivate inner coherence and build deep resilience — in other words, to thrive in life and in love.
EFFT
Family Therapy
Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) extends the principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy to the repair and strengthening of family bonds. Grounded in the science of attachment, it aims to foster secure family patterns in which care and connection flow freely between members. Its methodology focuses on de-escalating negative interaction patterns, restructuring parent–child relationships and establishing a felt sense of security through new patterns of connection.
Through this process, families often experience rapid progress, as members become more responsive and emotionally available, disclosing and acknowledging attachment emotions and needs that had until then gone unspoken. In this way, EFFT supports not only the personal growth of each member but also the strengthening of relationships across generations.
Hold Me Tight®
A Couples Relationship Enhancement Programme
The award-winning Hold Me Tight® relationship education programme for couples draws on twenty-five years of research in the science of adult attachment and in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), developed by Dr Sue Johnson.
If you are a therapist looking for an introduction to Emotionally Focused Therapy, and would like to bring your partner into that world with you, Hold Me Tight® is an excellent place to begin.
And if you have already completed the EFT Externship, this workshop offers two things at once: the chance to step into your clients’ shoes through a parallel process of your own, and the opportunity to learn experientially how to deliver a Hold Me Tight® programme yourself.
